Ford Fusion 2020 for Desert Trips: Understand the Route and Limits

A journey to a desert area may follow paved roads, but reaching a destination differs from driving dunes or rough tracks. Before buying a 2020 Ford Fusion for that purpose, identify the actual route, version and condition rather than treating engine output or an AWD badge as proof of capability on every surface.

What does the Fusion manual say about AWD?

The official 2020 Fusion manual describes limited off-road capability for the AWD version on relatively level, obstruction-free surfaces resembling ordinary road conditions. This is not approval for dunes or rocks. The reference covers the US and Canada; establish the correct manual and equipment before applying instructions to your car.

Match the VIN, grade and supplying market to the documents and identify the drive system actually fitted. Not every Fusion has AWD, and changing wheels or tires cannot establish suitability for a different route. Request modification records and appropriate assessment where needed.
